We should spend more time honoring Texas’ real leaders.

Good morning,

I hope you and yours had wonderful Thanksgiving!

Like you, I’m daily thankful for the blessing of so many amazing men and women who work every day to make Texas better. No, I’m not talking about politicians. No, I mean the real leaders in our system of government: the citizens.

That’s why at our annual event we don’t honor politicians, but instead present engraved swords to Texas’ grassroots leaders.

With the Conservative Leaders Gala [[link removed]] coming up on Saturday, I want to tell you about the Conservative Leader Award in today's Texas Minute.

Swords have a long and distinguished history as a symbol of strength and practical, on-the-ground leadership.

At our annual Conservative Leaders Gala [[link removed]], Empower Texans presents engraved cavalry swords to men and women who have distinguished themselves as leaders in Texas’ grassroots movement. The awardees have been nominated by their fellow activists from around the state.

The recipients don’t hold public office or even seek the spotlight; instead, they diligently work to make Texas a stronger, better place to live. Some have never heard of our organization! Each honoree is someone on the front lines, cheerfully leading their friends and family into the fight.

They do it in very different ways. Some lead block-walking efforts, others quietly handle the administrative duties of civic organizations, while still others help inspire the giving of time and money.

At the 2019 Conservative Leaders Gala [[link removed]], you’ll be inspired by the stories of these activists by the men and women who have seen them in action. I hope you’ll be there!

Copied below are the names of the past recipients of the Conservative Leader Award.
