I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who supported my candidacy -- whether you voted for me, donated, or told a friend or neighbor in the North State about my campaign. Every bit helped us mount a winning effort, and I would not be here without you.
We had an uphill climb in this race. As you know this is a traditionally "red" seat, and all the pundits expected voter turnout to lag last night. But we exceed the trend lines here in CD-01 -- beating the state average.
Ballots are still being counted, but when all is said and done we'll likely have received 40% of the vote. That’s strong considering there were 4 total candidates in the race. It also means we both consolidated Democratic support and had some Republicans and Independents vote for us in the primary. That's a huge, team.
The cracks in LaMalfa's stronghold on this district are beginning to show. While he continues to duck public events and hide from his voting record, we're going to spend the Summer running an issues-focused, grassroots campaign. Folks are fed up with LaMalfa’s culture wars and politics of division. This is about finally delivering for the North State. This is about the real issues facing working families, farmers, and small businesses on a day-to-day basis.
I'm proud of what we've built, and with your help, on November 8, 2022, I will defeat insurrectionist Doug LaMalfa.
