Hi, John,
School may be out for the summer, but we want to take a moment to reflect on the past school year. Particularly as we celebrate Pride Month, it’s heartbreaking to see spaces that should be safe and affirming become breeding grounds for hostility.
Here at GLSEN, we are committed to making schools safer for LGBTQ+ youth, especially those who are transgender, nonbinary, Black, Indigenous, people of color, people with disabilities, and from all communities that experience marginalization. This is why we’re proud to support the Safe Schools Improvement Act, which would help foster safe and inclusive learning environments for all students.
We have one simple ask for you: Will you fill out this form [[link removed]] [[link removed]] urging your representatives in Congress to co-sponsor the Safe Schools Improvement Act?
Take Action Now! [[link removed]]
We must send a clear message: we expect our elected officials to stand up for the safety of LGBTQ+ students, and if they don’t, we’ll be holding them accountable.
Thanks for joining us in this fight to make schools, at minimum, safe for LGBTQ+ youth, while building towards schools as places of liberation. We couldn’t do this without your support.
In solidarity,
Aaron Ridings (he/they)
Chief of Staff
Deputy Executive Director for Public Policy and Research
