Jack, this fall's midterms will be the first nationwide elections since the January 6 insurrection and Republican mainstreaming of the Big Lie—and the feds are warning that "proliferation of false or misleading narratives" could lead to right-wing extremist violence in the run-up to voting.
I won't mince words: This is scary sh*t. But it's because this is so scary that we cannot let Republicans win this November. The Republican Party has openly embraced disinformation, hate, and violence and the agenda they plan to push should they retake Congress proves that.
Winning in November requires a massive Get Out The Vote (GOTV) operation—and working to GOTV is going to be harder this year than ever before. Republican state legislatures have passed a raft of voter suppression laws that have created a maze of new rules voters will need help navigating and concocted a plan to create chaos in Democratic precincts on Election Day.
We need an army of volunteers working to not just remind people to get out and vote, but to keep voters informed of changing rules and up to date on where and when they can vote. This sort of thing isn't cheap or quick—it takes a lot of time and a lot of money. That's why I'm writing to you today.
Daily Kos has one of the biggest Get Out The Vote operations on the left. We recruited over 100,000 volunteers in 2020, and plugged them into high-impact actions like making phone calls or writing letters to left-leaning voters who don't always come out on Election Day. We need to do it again—and more—if we're to win in November. Can you chip in $5 a month through Election Day to support Daily Kos's Get Out The Vote campaign?
