I have a quick mid-week update to share and there are two quick items I wanted to bring your attention to:


- First, we have a quick update on today’s vote in the House on gun control legislation.

- Second, we need your help to stop the Biden administration from implementing a new Climate Disclosure rule that will increase costs for every American. Please take 5 minutes today to submit a public comment.
Democrats’ Gun Grab Bill
House Dems have put forth a package of eight gun control bills combined into one bill (H.R. 7910). The so-called “Protecting Our Kids Act” is a partisan package that chips away at the Second Amendment and seeks to disarm law-abiding Americans by imposing new restrictions and legal burdens.

The House will vote on this legislation this evening (Wednesday), and if all Democrats get behind it, it will pass in the House. However, this is mostly a messaging bill and it is not viable in the Senate. (The Senate is working on their own proposal, but there are not yet many public details).

We are key-voting the House bill as part of Heritage Action’s scorecard. Any Representative who votes for this gun grab will see their score go down on our scorecard.

Biden’s Woke Climate Regulation
Biden’s Security and Exchange Commission is proposing a new Climate Disclosure rule that will affect all businesses large and small.

This regulation would require businesses to:



- Determine how climate change could impact their business, operations, or financial condition.

- Determine their greenhouse gas emissions and even the emissions of businesses that they buy and sell from. 

- Disclose how often their corporate boards talk about climate change




Companies will need to hire even more lawyers, consultants, lobbyists, and accountants to comply with these new regulations. Talk about a handout for the rich!

And we know that companies pass on their extra costs to the consumer, so you’ll bear the brunt of this new regulation.

The companies that will be most targeted are energy companies in the oil and gas or coal industries, and they will lose investors over their high emission disclosures.

Every new regulation is subject to public comment from citizens like you. The Biden admin has already had to withdraw two regulations due to public outcry.

But please add 3-5 sentences of your own to our pre-written comment (you’ll see when you click heritageaction.com/climaterule <[link removed]>). This is critical because the Biden admin must respond individually to each unique comment.
