Happy Pride Month, folks.

As a lifelong ally of the LGBTQ+ community, I make it one of my top priorities in Congress to protect LGBTQ+ Americans from discrimination.

That’s why I was a proud co-sponsor of the Equality Act last year and the Global Respect Act – legislation that will deny visas to anyone who has committed acts of violence against LGBTQ+ individuals.

But while we’ve made progress, and Pride Month calls for celebration, it’s also a reminder of all the work ahead of us.

The GOP is calling for LGBTQ+ erasure. Republicans in state legislatures across the country are introducing bills to ban children from learning about sexual orientation. They think if they can ban the word “gay” then they can prevent more Americans from being themselves.

Republican attempts to discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community are alarming and disturbing.

We’ve come too far to turn back the clock – love wins, this month, and every month. I promise I won’t stop fighting until we have equal rights for all.
