John – A.G. Holder told us why we need to stay in the fight for fair maps:

Holder quote: "We know Republican operatives now view redistricting as an every-cycle fight, and we can't afford to let their plans to manipulate the playing field go unchallenged."

Now we're asking you: Will you pitch in today to help us keep up our work over the long haul? >> [link removed]

(This is the long part.) Here's some of what we plan to do with your generous donation:

1. Build On State-of-the-Art Mapping Capabilities

In several states – including North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and others where litigation is pending – it’s possible that new maps will need to be drawn before the 2024 elections. To prepare, we’re investing in new technologies, data, and mapping innovations.

2. Continue Supporting Voters in Litigation

Our affiliates are still supporting voters in lawsuits to secure fair maps ahead of the 2022 midterms. And in other states, voters are pursuing litigation to achieve fair maps before the 2024 elections. Here at NDRC, we need to continue to be agile about adjusting our strategy to account for these legal challenges.

We’re also preparing for additional legal threats from Republicans, including the dangerous independent state legislature theory that suggests state lawmakers should have unprecedented and unchecked power over maps and elections.

3. Improve Redistricting Reforms

In 2018 and 2020, we worked to help pass redistricting reforms that were instrumental in securing fair maps in states like Colorado and Michigan. Moving forward, we plan to build on the lessons we learned from these victories to achieve reforms in even more states.

4. Target Elections Important to Redistricting

Our work in 2018 and 2020 to help elect Democrats running for state-level offices made a big difference. In states like Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Wisconsin, Democratic governors vetoed gerrymandered maps.
And now, Republicans are ramping up their efforts to target state court elections in an effort to install judges they believe will rubber stamp their gerrymandering schemes. That means we need to prepare for the long term by electing pro-democracy leaders.

Yes, it's a lot of work. Now you can see why we're asking you for a donation! John, if you care about strengthening American democracy, now and in the future, will you chip in to the NDRC?

"If the NDRC is successful in undoing manipulated maps, we'll be able to achieve a system in which everyone's vote counts."

Since 2017, the NDRC has executed a comprehensive redistricting strategy that shifts the redistricting power, creating fair districts where Democrats can compete. Our victories have been made possible by our strong community of grassroots supporters.
