Dear John, As I write this, I’m still soaking up the inspiration of spending a week with member leaders recently in Albuquerque, New Mexico. From the folks who traveled as far as the Micronesia Climate Change Alliance (MCCA) to our hosts at the SouthWest Organizing Project (SWOP) and all the organizations and regions in between, the breadth of our membership and the movements we weave together felt present. Grassroots frontline communities have the answers we need in these times – will you make a donation today to support member-driven feminist, anti-racist, regenerative solutions? Our
week in Albuquerque was filled with strategizing and deliberating on GGJ’s mandate for this upcoming period, and we also broke bread, built relationships, and cared for one another in ways that exemplify our movements’ vision for the world. I’m carrying with me the power of local struggles against military environmental contamination from the region, and the inspiration that came with our reflections on GGJ’s origins, which SWOP shaped in many ways.
We came together amid many reminders that we need the solutions of the frontlines for transformation of our society. Climate collapse, attacks on reproductive rights, wars at home and abroad, untenable costs of living and more are leading people to despair. But our movements have always known that a culture and economic system predicated on extraction, exploitation, and
violence could never meet our needs or keep us safe. This is why we continue organizing to create alternative systems that center collective care. Our member leaders are currently working on GGJ's next phase of Just Transition campaign and electoral work, developing organizing training for leftist movements, strategizing to resource our broader movements, and more—all on the road to our full membership assembly in October! I invite you to check out some other highlights from these past several months below. My hope is that it feeds you with as much hope as it does us. I also invite you to make a renewed commitment to supporting and resourcing movements today. To make a donation to GGJ, visit www.ggjalliance.org/donate. Thankful, as always, to be in this movement with you! Kereknaan “KK” Fiannaan Resource Development Organizer, GGJ
