Hey everybody! Just wanted to let all of you know that July has been an incredibly exciting month for our campaign!
1.) We co-hosted a Progressive Potluck For Proactive Immigration Reform event with US Senate candidate Lorena Garcia. I had a great time speaking with the voters of my district about the issues that are most important to them. It was a beautiful day with free food, drinks, and live music! 2.) The National Republican Congressional Committee attacked the campaigns of progressive candidates throughout the nation (including me!) with a website they called “Socialist Showdown.” It allows people to donate to the progressive challengers of Democratic incumbents throughout the nation.
This completely ineffective attack by the Republican Party is designed to capitalize on the tension that exists between the progressive and centrist wings of the Democratic Party. They believe that the friction between these factions will make the party weaker, but they couldn’t be more wrong. What they don’t understand is that the progressive movement is slowly turning the Democratic Party into the only party that actually fights for the policies that the American people want. 3.) We submitted our requests for endorsement to Brand New Congress, Justice Democrats, and End Citizens United! We’re still in the process of reaching out and networking with the local chapters of Our Revolution, RepresentUs, and Democratic Socialists of America.
4.) Our campaign released a new video today called “The Age of Reason” that discusses why my generation is perfectly prepared to step up and fight for public policy that will build a sustainable society that works for ALL of us. You can watch it here!
