But as a Christian is killed every 2 hours in Nigeria, the Biden Administration has REMOVED critical protections for Christians in Nigeria.
Even though the Christians killed in Nigeria alone accounted for 80% of all Christians murdered last year, the Biden Administration intentionally chose to remove Nigeria from a special State Department persecution watchlist. When he was Secretary of State, ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs Mike Pompeo had placed Nigeria on this watchlist, crediting the ACLJ with helping provide this critical tool to protect Christians in need.
Now that the plight of dying Christians has become even more dire, President Biden has chosen to completely abandon Christians in Nigeria. It’s despicable.
As Christians are dying, it is our sacred duty to act. TODAY, we are sending a critical legal letter to Secretary of State Blinken demanding he put Nigeria back on this vital persecution watchlist, urge the world to act, and pressure Nigeria to protect Christians. And in the coming days, we’re preparing to send critical records demands to the Biden Administration.
