Here in Nottingham, our partners Carers Federation, who are based in Carrington, can support young unpaid carers aged 16 to 24.
Carers Federation offer:
- Regular meetings with a dedicated support worker
- Carers assessments, looking at whole family support
- Specialist support for unpaid carers
- Action planning to help you move towards employment, education or training
- Support with updating your CV
- Help with completing applications and preparing for interviews
Carers Federation can help you if you're a young unpaid carer...
'A' came on the program with the ambition to gain employment within NHS. She specifically wanted to become a Nursing Associate. We first looked at the requirements on the NHS website to see what she would need to be successful.
We discovered she would need her maths which she did not achieve at school, but we also found out that she has a caring role at home and needed to be there at certain points of the day.
We found 'A' a twelve-week remote maths course at Nottingham College which she applied for; we worked on her CV at the same time to support her to apply for jobs.
'A' passed her functional maths course and was now ready to apply for jobs with her CV that we had worked on.
Some time later we heard from 'A' that she had been accepted for a Healthcare Support Worker role at Nottingham University Hospitals.
If you, or someone you know is a young carer, we can support you.
