John,
While tonight’s results weren’t what we’d hoped, I want to take a moment to say thank you.
To everyone who helped us build this progressive movement — who donated, volunteered your time, stood with us in our redistricting fight, or helped spread the word about our campaign — I am forever grateful.
Together, we earned national support for our movement, won the fight against New Jersey’s political machine to give Black voters a voice in NJ-10, and empowered thousands of people who’ve been left behind by a corrupt system.
But, sadly, we were outspent 3 to 1, and the establishment used every trick in the book to stop us.
Moving forward, I hope we’ve built the groundwork to take down NJ’s corrupt ballot line and corrupt political machine. Today’s misinformation, polling site irregularities, and voter manipulation proved that even after the crooked ballots were printed, New Jersey still didn’t act like a democracy. The political games proved how fragile the machine is and how dirty they’re willing to play.
I’m disappointed that the establishment’s dirty tricks, corporate funding, and anti-democratic ballot line won out, but I still believe in this movement, John.
The ballot line and our state’s corrupt political machine can be beaten, but it requires courage and sustained effort. And regardless of tonight’s results, I’m going to continue fighting for progress, standing up for our communities, and fighting back against corruption and injustice.
