In the ongoing attacks against honest and accurate education, politicians and policymakers in 42 states ([link removed]) have introduced legislation or pursued other measures to censor classroom discussions about racism, sexism, heterosexism, transphobia and other forms of oppression. Advocating for honest, accurate and fully funded public education is as important now as it has ever been.

Zinn Education Project, Black Lives Matter at School and the African American Policy Forum are once again encouraging educators, students, families and community members to rally across the country ([link removed]) and pledge to support teaching the truth.

School communities across the country are planning events as part of the Teach Truth Days of Action on June 11-12. Suggested events include rallies, virtual teach-ins, town halls and walking tours at historic sites. If you’re looking for free materials to use during teach-ins or town halls, consider our Teaching Hard History resources ([link removed]) , which include a short film, videos, webinars and more. Sign up to participate and learn about the days of action here ([link removed]) . March For Our Lives is organizing nationwide marches ([link removed]) to end gun violence on June 11. If you’re participating in a march or a day of action, consider ways to show solidarity with the collective action happening this weekend.

We urge you to join with others in your community to advocate for honest and accurate education in safe, inclusive schools students deserve.
