I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thanks to your support, we have been able to rush support to our endorsed candidates in the leadup to their critical primary elections – and it’s made a huge difference.

Thanks to your support, last month, TWO of our endorsed candidates won their elections and will be on the ballot in November! For North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, our candidate Jasmine Beach-Ferrara will be up against Chuck Edwards. Although folks were glad to see Chuck oust Madison Cawthorn (the extremist incumbent), he is heavily backed by Republican leadership, far-right groups, and dark money.

In Texas’ 21st Congressional District, our candidate Claudia Zapata will be up against right-wing extremist and forced-birth advocate Rep. Chip Roy – one of the Congressional GOPs who voted against a bill that would help parents access baby formula last month.

Both of our endorsed candidates are on track to make history, but they will need our help.

May proved to be a difficult month for many reasons, particularly for abortion rights. The leaked Supreme Court opinion signaled that our worst fears might soon come true – a world where the right to choose is no longer protected by the landmark case Roe v. Wade. Then, Oklahoma’s male GOP Governor signed the strictest abortion ban yet – banning abortion at conception – into law, effective immediately. This is not the first, not the second, but the THIRD abortion restriction bill Governor Stitt has signed into law. We predict a troubling domino effect if Roe falls.

We also mourned the senseless loss of countless innocent lives to gun violence – and watched as our legislators once again continued to offer “thoughts and prayers” rather than the policy change and gun control most Americans seek.

We are angry, and we know you are too. But we also know the only thing we can do when we’re angry is fight back. Our rights to safety and bodily autonomy are worth fighting for.

Thank you so much again for your incredible support last month. We must continue to push full steam ahead through these critical primaries and general elections. We cannot stop our momentum now. We need progressive, pro-choice champions in office. It’s more important now than ever. Let’s do this.
