Each and every day that we waste on stalling critical action leads
directly to more lives lost. But as weʼve clearly seen, Republicans in the
Senate do not want to move the country forward on important issues, and
they support policies that lead to the disproportionate killing of
children, and Black and brown people in our country.

Itʼs clear that our progressive coalitions and leaders like Jamaal are the
only ones who will stand up to defend our children and our safety. [ [link removed] ]As

Just this past weekend, there were shootings in Philadelphia, Chattanooga,
Summerton, Chester, and Phoenix. And since the tragic events that took
place at Sandy Hook Elementary School, there have been well over 3,600
school shootings.

Republicans in the Senate have not lifted a finger to stop the
all-too-common killing of children in our schools. Our children are the
number one victim of gun violence in our country, and Black and brown
people are disproportionately killed by guns in our nation. The Republican
party is a sick party, one that allows our kids to be slaughtered on a
constant basis — and we are a sick nation for allowing this inaction to
continue for so long.

As a Black man, a father, an educator, and a progressive champion for
change, this fight remains deeply personal for Jamaal. Thatʼs why we need
to do everything we can to use our collective voice and power to uplift
those who are fighting for solutions to the crises we face. [ [link removed] ]And we
