Castner Range extends over 7,000 acres near El Paso, Texas, acting as a natural flood buffer and water filtration system. Its unique landscape is home to rare wildlife as well as dozens of sacred Native American sites including rock shelters, petroglyphs, bedrock mortars, and habitations dating back 10,000 years.
The site is
crucial to addressing the climate and nature crises. We cannot stabilize the climate without increasing protections for nature — and one of the most cost-effective strategies for mitigating climate change is to protect more of our country's pristine lands and waters.
Tell President Biden to use his authority under the Antiquities Act to designate Castner Range as a national monument.
This action would affirm the president's commitment to protecting our national treasures, as well as help counteract a history of inequitable access to the outdoors. We ask the administration to set forth a plan to safely turn this area that was once a military installation into an area for recreation, solace, and comfort for all. A Castner Range National Monument would safeguard communities, preserve a diverse history, and expand equitable access to the outdoors for the people of El Paso.
It is absolutely critical that we protect these significant geological, paleontological, and archaeological features and a cultural history that dates back 10,000 years. ADD YOUR NAME: Make Castner Range a National Monument
Thank you for fighting to protect our public lands and frontline communities.
