Yesterday after two weeks of doctor-advised rest and recuperation I returned to the U.S. Senate. The truth is, we will all need as much strength as we can muster for the important work ahead. We are just five months away from the 2022 election where so much hangs in the balance — the right to vote, the right to reproductive freedom, action to address the epidemic of gun violence, and much more.
Meanwhile, the process for seeking accountability for the attack on our democracy is moving into a new phase with the start this Thursday of public hearings by the House Select Committee on the January 6th Attack. Last week federal authorities arrested Trump advisor Peter Navarro for his refusal to respond to a subpoena from the Committee and earlier today the Justice Department formally charged members of the extremist Proud Boys group with 'seditious conspiracy' to oppose the lawful transfer of presidential power by force.
As we head into this consequential period I want to make sure your voice is being heard.
Thank you.
