I’m Myeshia Price and I’m The Trevor Project’s Senior Research Scientist. Throughout this Pride season, you’ll hear time and again that it’s supporters like you that help us be here for LGBTQ young people. I wanted to take some time to tell you exactly how you help us to do just that.

Every year I work with my team to produce the National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health to highlight the issues facing young people today. We found that 45% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year and nearly 1 in 5 transgender and nonbinary youth attempted suicide. Yet, 60% could not access the mental health care they desired.

Our goal as a Research team is to produce thoughtful investigation and documentation that brings new knowledge to the field of suicidology. Research tells us how we can get to a world where LGBTQ youth suicide is a thing of the past. Your support enables us to learn more and get closer to that reality every day.

The research of The Trevor Project is helping to create a fuller picture of LGBTQ experiences. This allows us to adjust our strategy and provide direct crisis services even more effectively.
