John,
A small faction of Senate Democrats may be betraying you for Big Tech.1
As groundbreaking antitrust legislation moves forward, a group of Senators are trying to keep the bills from getting a vote. They say it’s because they’re worried about how it might impact their reelection prospects in the midterms this fall, but the truth is they are putting Big Tech interests over yours.
We can’t let these Senators trade away our democratic rights to the monopolistic powers of Amazon, Facebook, and Google. Take action now: Call these Senators and tell them to support antitrust legislation.
There is no question that these lawmakers, including Maggie Hassan (NH), Michael Bennet (CO), Brian Schatz (HI), Dianne Feinstein (CA), and Alejandro Padilla (CA), are being swayed by Big Tech lobbyists. Facebook, Google, and Amazon have been spending billions to kill these bills and running aggressive oppositional campaigns.2,3
But siding with Big Tech at the expense of passing legislation that would rein in monopolistic companies that abuse their gatekeeper status to undermine human rights, distort democracy, abuse our personal data, and stifle competition is just wrong.
This is a critical moment. We need to make it clear to these lawmakers that they can’t throw real people and small businesses under the bus while Big Tech continues to dominate and control our lives.
Here’s what you can do: call these key Senators right now and tell them to stop shilling for Big Tech and support antitrust laws that put your democratic rights first!
-
Click here and enter your phone number. We’ll connect you with the lawmakers’ offices.
-
When someone answers, be polite, introduce yourself, and say: I’m calling to tell the Senator to rein in Big Tech companies by supporting the American Innovation and Choice Online Act and the Open App Markets Act. We need leaders who will stand up for real people and small businesses, and not shill for Big Tech.
-
Share this action far and wide. The more calls these Senators get the more pressure they’ll feel to do the right thing
Things are moving quickly, but there is still a ton of bipartisan support for these bills. We can still win, but we need to stay vigilant and not let anyone off the hook.
Make the call, share this action, and we’ll keep you posted!
