AiA Visionary Awards
to be Presented at Creative Connections Event
The Art in Action Visionary Award is given annually to a person or organization that exemplifies, supports, and promotes the important role that art and artists play in society and our everyday lives. The Award represents the mission and values of Art in Action in its efforts to make art education available to children everywhere.

On June 22nd, AiA will celebrate two community leaders. We are thrilled to recognize Kelsey Rothrock, Teacher at Horace Cureton School in San Jose for her dedication to bringing art to her students for 15 years. We are also excited to recognize the Junior League of Palo Alto•Mid-Peninsula for their partnership and generosity to help expand STEAM arts education and bring art to students on the Peninsula.

Kelsey Rothrock ([link removed])
For 25 years and counting, Kelsey has taught language arts, science, and art! As a wife and mother, she loves reading, beekeeping, and is a 49er fan. Kelsey learned of Art in Action in 2013. She loves how our programs "teach and expose students to art, the history of art pieces, and guides them to create their own art which, in turn, helps to create confidence in the students themselves." Kelsey also notes how, "art helps students work through and solve problems, develop motor skills and language skills, helps build up their self-esteem, and for many of my students it helps to relieve their stress and anxiety."

Junior League of Palo Alto•Mid-Peninsula (JLPA•MP) ([link removed])
Over 50 years of community impact through volunteerism, JLPA•MP has trained generations of women to take on leadership roles to tackle difficult social issues such as at-risk youth, affordable housing, societal violence, and homelessness. In partnership with JLPA•MP, we created Art in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics)—a program focused on teaching STEM concepts and demonstrating how visual arts is integrated in science and math.
