Hi John,
Private electric utilities like Pepco are blocking the transition to renewable and distributed energy — such as rooftop solar — while subjecting customers to rampant rate hikes and electricity shutoffs. Pepco’s monopoly is standing in the way of climate action and the urgent need to transition to clean energy.
You deserve an electric utility that puts people before profits and advances a resilient, affordable, and climate-safe energy system. City council members can make this a reality by replacing Pepco with a publicly owned, democratically controlled utility.
Show your support for energy justice and climate action by joining us at We Power DC’s rally on June 8. We’ll meet outside Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library at 901 G St. NW, at 5 p.m., before walking across the street to Pepco headquarters.
What: Public Power Rally
When: Wednesday, June 8, 5 p.m.
Where: Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, 901 G St. NW
We Power DC, a grassroots advocacy campaign, is organizing the rally to protest Pepco’s abusive practices and to urge council members, candidates and residents to take the Public Power Pledge — a commitment to transition Washington, D.C. to public power.
See you there,
