Happy Pride Month, Jack!
Today and throughout June, we honor and celebrate our LGBTQ+ community.
From stalwarts like Joe Herzenberg, North Carolina’s first openly gay politician to be elected, to LGBTQ+ activist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Mandy Carter, North Carolina has a long history of fighting for LGBTQ+ rights.
While we celebrate the diversity that makes us strong, we must also remember there’s so much more fighting to do. Right now, there’s a harmful “Don’t Say Gay” bill being pushed by extremist Republicans in our state legislature.
The work we do every day, fighting for Black, Brown, Latinx, Indigenous, and Asian communities, is a fight for equal representation for all of North Carolina’s disenfranchised people. As we celebrate Pride Month, the work continues engaging and mobilizing North Carolinians for a better future.
Together,
The New North Carolina Project
