The May NEWsflash
Friend,

Welcome back to the May edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of great stories from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. May was a busy month where we honored Northeast Wisconsin's fallen heroes, celebrated new businesses in the area, and saw firsthand how talented members of our community are.

I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance.

Semper Fi,
Recognizing Young Artists: At the beginning of the month, I hosted a reception at the Neville Public Museum to celebrate the students who participated in the 2022 Congressional Art Competition. We had 49 pieces of art submitted by Northeast Wisconsin students, which were all on display at the Neville Public Museum during the month of May as well. Lila Newton (pictured above) was the winner of this year's art competition, and her piece, Fashionable Hatching, will be displayed in the Canon Tunnel of the Capitol complex in Washington, DC.
Training the Next Workforce: My team attended the Boldt Youth Apprenticeship Signing Day to celebrate the next generation of workers as they begin their career. Boldt's innovative apprenticeship program will keep Northeast Wisconsin's best and brightest here at home and help alleviate the technical skills gap.
Special Olympics on the Road: On May 3, Kriete Truck Centers awarded a specially wrapped truck to one of their most accomplished drivers, Carmen Anderson. The truck wrapping highlights an organization close to Carmen's heart, Special Olympics Wisconsin, and will raise awareness for the Special Olympics as it travels across the country. It was an honor to attend the handover event and celebrate Carmen's accomplished career.
Supporting our Vets: My team attended a meeting of the Fox Valley Veterans Resource Group, where County Veteran Service Officers discussed their advocacy and assistance to veterans who were applying for benefits with the VA. Veterans service organizations, non profits, and representatives of state and federal government shared information on how we can all work together to support our veterans and their families.
Caffeinating Green Bay: I also had the opportunity to serve alongside the hardworking employees at Grounded Cafe in Green Bay. Grounded Cafe ensures that every Northeast Wisconsinite has the chance to participate in meaningful work (and they make great coffee and soup too!). While working, I also got a few tips from one of the Cafe's Ambassadors, Lucas, on how to make the perfect latte.
Caring for our Seniors: Care Patrol of the Fox Cities, a senior care solutions organization, does great work and recently launched a branding refresh. My team attended the ribbon cutting to help celebrate their new look.
Brewing for Good: On May 21, members of my team joined Tim Landwehr, owner of Tight Lines Fly Fishing Company in De Pere and Gnarly Cedar Brewery in Greenleaf, for an event highlighting the release of Tight Lines Midwest Coast IPA craft beer. A portion of the proceeds from the brew will go to support the Coalition to Save the Menominee River.
Sending Off NEW Heroes: My team also attended a farewell ceremony for the 395th Ordnance Company, which is preparing to deploy to the Middle East where they will be responsible for munitions support and oversight operations in the region. These men and women are some of Northeast Wisconsin's finest, and it was great to see so many Wisconsinites turn out to wish them well on their mission.
Welcoming a New Eatery: On May 17th, my team attended the ribbon cutting for the new Cousins Subs location in Green Bay. Welcome to the neighborhood, Cousins!
