Happy Pride Month! This month is a time to revel in the freedom of living your most authentic life. It also serves as a poignant reminder of how far we’ve come in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights and how much further we have to go to win true justice and equality for the entire community. And this year, renewing our commitment to protecting the LGBTQ+ community has never been more important.

Republican-led state legislatures around the country are passing legislation like “Don’t Say Gay” bills that ban LGBTQ+ topics from merely being spoken of in school, as well as bills that cruelly criminalize essential transgender healthcare. And in the Supreme Court’s leaked opinion set to undo Roe v. Wade last month, they challenged the legitimacy of their landmark decision on marriage equality by name, likely setting up an attack on fundamental LGBTQ+ rights next.

We cannot allow that to happen.

The GOP and their hand-picked conservative judges will stop at nothing to revoke LGBTQ+ rights, and this Pride Month and every month, we have to fight back. Can you chip in to help elect Democrats who stand up for the LGBTQ+ community and stop the GOP’s bigoted agenda?

The wins we’ve seen for LGBTQ+ equality are owed to Black and brown queer and trans folks, who are often the most impacted by these extreme measures. This Pride, let’s honor them with a commitment to continuing to fight for justice and equality for all.

I have always been proud to be a strong ally of the LGBTQ+ community in Congress and fight for legislation like the Equality Act that cements equality in the law of the land. But in order to do that, we need to expand the Democratic majority and prevent Republicans from taking power.
