How was your weekend?
Yesterday, I attended a protest calling on our leaders to pass common
sense gun safety laws. Together, we wore orange in solidarity to end gun
violence and our children led us in marching and lifting our voices to
fight for the future they deserve.

I wear orange because I am a survivor. I wear orange because enough is
enough. I wear orange for TJ, Buba, Cortez, Kevin, Ayriana, Tae, Zarek,
and all of my family who lost their lives. I wear orange because I love
you, and I’m fighting for you.
We can’t keep accepting inaction. Every member of Congress who refuses to
prevent another massacre needs to resign right now.
That’s why I’m running against Rand Paul, a Senator with a 92% NRA rating
who’s accepted more money from the gun lobby than any other Senate
candidate this year. Rand Paul has made it clear that he will always vote
to please his donor friends from the gun lobby rather than save lives.

I have
directly seen and felt the impact of gun violence. On Easter Sunday in
2016, my younger cousin TJ was shot and killed during an attempted
robbery. And since then, I’ve lost another cousin to gun violence each
year.
Guns are the leading cause of death for children in the U.S., and I’m
determined to dismantle the corrupt foundation that the gun lobby has
entrenched with Congress. Now more than ever, legislative and executive
action is necessary to prevent future mass killings, of our children or
otherwise.
I believe we deserve to live in peace. I believe weapons of war should not
be in our classrooms or in our streets. But Rand Paul does not give a damn
about our safety or survival.
In fact, he’s the number ONE Senator funded by the gun lobby and has
blocked every bipartisan bill that’s been introduced to keep our
communities safe.
We
don’t have to keep accepting inaction from Senate Republicans like Rand
