Nine years ago, the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school left 28 people, including 20 children, dead.
Maxwell was still in high school, but this tragedy pushed him into action and started his career in anti-gun violence activism.
Despite promises after promises from legislators, nothing was done to address the gun violence crisis. The NRA and the gun lobby blocked any change.
But Maxwell didn’t give up. He became the National Organizing Director for March for Our Lives which made history by catalyzing unprecedented support and energy for action on the issue.
