Team, you may have seen what’s happening in states with Republican governors. In states like Texas, Florida, and Georgia, their governors have signed into law legislation that attacks the LGBTQ+ community, makes it harder for people to cast their votes, and strips women of their reproductive freedoms. 

Make no mistake: GOP lawmakers here in North Carolina would enact these very same laws if they’re given the chance. 

What’s stopping them? Governor Roy Cooper and our Democratic allies in the North Carolina General Assembly. 

Governor Cooper has been working tirelessly to defend the progress we’ve fought so hard for in North Carolina. In the fight to protect our fundamental rights, we know that Democratic governors and state legislators are the strongest and last line of defense against extreme GOP legislation.

When the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, Governor Cooper will be the only person standing between the Republican-controlled General Assembly and the end of reproductive freedom in North Carolina.

Amidst the relentless attacks on our fundamental rights, we’re proud that Governor Cooper has never wavered in his determination to do the right thing and that he continues to call on his colleagues in both parties to do the same. We want to make sure he knows that North Carolinians support his efforts to protect our freedoms.
