Friend,

Trump has just implemented a new rule to speed up deportations by depriving undocumented immigrants of more human rights. Trump has enacted expanded expedited removal, which speeds up deportations by removing the requirement of a hearing in front of an immigration judge for undocumented immigrants who have been in the country for less than two years.

This means the Department of Homeland Security can deport any undocumented person living in the US for less than two years, without a hearing before an immigration judge. It also means that ICE and CBP can racially profile and demand information from immigrants - this policy is racist.

As always, our teams are ready to spring up to protect our communities, to inform and to explain. So we’ve drafted the Top 5 Things You Need to Know About Trump’s new Expedited Removal Rule:

We’re still analyzing this rule, its effects on our communities and developing ways for us to fight back. One important thing right now is to get as many folks as we can to understand the situation and to prepare for any possible interaction with ICE. Help us share and reach more folks with this information:

This latest attack by Trump is a national mass racial profiling mandate that intensifies the deportation of immigrants and which will lead to more detentions, deportations, and death. We must fight these attacks on all fronts.

Don’t forget, we have a list of resources created for our community to stay protected. Download Notifica, an app to help you plan, learn and act if you are at risk of being detained by deportation agents. Also you can call our MigraWatch Hotline at 1-844-363-1423 if you or a loved one need to report ICE or CBP in your community.

We have each other,

Juanita from UWD
