Hello friend, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and explain why I’m fighting for Hoosiers across Indiana.
I’m Tom McDermott, and I’m running for U.S. Senate.
I’m currently the Mayor of Hammond, Indiana. I’m also a proud husband, father of four, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
At 18 years old, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent 6 years serving our country, including as a nuclear submariner during the Persian Gulf War. During these formative years, I committed to a life of serving the American people.
At 34 years old, I became the youngest elected Mayor in Hammond and the first Democrat elected in 20 years — and five elections later, I’m also the longest-serving Mayor.
For the last eighteen years, I’ve led Hammond as we’ve brought in more than $1 billion in economic development, increased home-ownership, started a city-funded college scholarship program, and lowered our crime rate.
I’ve shown what’s possible when you lead with common sense and hard work — and now I’m ready to take my leadership to the U.S. Senate. I can’t do this alone, so please join our movement today.
Right now, the Senate is broken. We need to get back to respecting one another, working across the aisle, and getting things done for the American people.
Hoosiers deserve a Senator that has the courage to stand up for what’s right, won’t prioritize the interests of lobbyists, and will fight to rebuild our hard-working communities.
So, will you step up and join our team today?
I’ll be honest, running as a Democrat in Indiana will be a challenge, but that’s the same thing I heard during my first run for office. We won that race, and I know that our team can face any obstacles head-on.
Happy to have you in this fight,
Tom
