Together, we can protect abortion rights.

Friend –

Anti-abortion politicians in Harrisburg are at it again.

Governor Wolf has pledged to veto any bill that would limit abortion access in Pennsylvania. In response, some lawmakers in Harrisburg are working to end the right to an abortion and state funding for abortion care by amending the state constitution – a process in which the governor has no role.

To successfully amend the constitution, the legislature has to vote twice on a bill to move the process forward. If the amendment makes it out of the legislature, the final step is to put it to voters as a ballot question, where it must pass with a simple majority vote.

If this amendment passes, the state Supreme Court would be powerless in the future to recognize abortion as a right guaranteed by the Pennsylvania Constitution. State constitutional protections are especially important right now, with the U.S. Supreme Court poised to overturn Roe.

Will you contact your state senator today and urge them to oppose S.B. 956 and protect the right to abortion care in the commonwealth? <[link removed]>

Access to care will be on the line for everyone, including Pennsylvanians. We must do what it takes to make sure people get the abortion care they need – and it's going to take all of us, working together.

That's why we have to defeat this effort to deny the right to abortion care through constitutional amendment while it's still in the legislature.

Thanks so much for taking action,
