In Joe Biden’s America, gas prices are soaring, rent is going through the roof, our border is being overrun, and now babies don’t have food. The Biden administration is more focused on finger-pointing than on fixing any of the problems facing American families. This is weak leadership and bloated bureaucracy at its worst.
On the campaign trail, I have talked to families who are struggling to make rent, strategically planning their shopping trips to make them last longer so they can use less gas. Now, babies are getting sick because their mothers can’t find the right formula for their families because the formula shelves are BARE.
The Biden administration says they are working as fast as they can now that the cameras are focused on them, but
HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said they have known this would be an issue since last year. Let me say that again - LAST YEAR. What on Earth has the Biden administration been doing all that time? Answer: Not enough.
Not only did the Biden administration not put any actions in place to mitigate losing over 40% of our baby food supply, but the administration has also been stalling the process ever since. Even after the CDC concluded its investigation and
Abbott announced that their formula was not the cause of the babies’ deaths, there was still a delay with no word from the FDA before they finally let them get a plan in motion for reopening.
While I’m glad that the first shipment from Europe of formula arrived this past week, it never should have taken this long. Mothers had to ration formula, drive around looking for the right type, and spend money on gas when they couldn’t afford it. Not to mention the absolute panic any parent would feel if they weren’t sure where their baby’s next meal was coming from.
The Biden administration had a year to prepare for this and didn’t address the problem until they were getting bad press. They should have immediately eased the bureaucratic red tape to get European options in as soon as they knew there was a problem. They also should have gotten ahead of the story to let families know that shortages might be coming so they could prepare. That’s not hard, that’s leadership.
Biden and the Washington Democrats continue to let us down. Whether it’s baby formula, gas prices, or the border, they simply aren’t up to the task. Unlike Greg Stanton, I will speak up for the East Valley and hold this administration’s feet to the fire. I will listen to people and provide solutions even when the media isn’t watching. I will fight for you and always put the East Valley first.
If there’s a silver lining, it’s this - despite the inaction from Biden and Stanton, the East Valley is stepping up as we always do. A Mesa woman started a Facebook page called “Arizona East Valley Formula” to help other women find access to formula. If anyone needs help finding it, reach out to me and my team at
[email protected]. And hats off to all the mamas out there taking care of one another.
Government failures like this are why this year’s elections are so important. This is a simple choice between the status quo and change. If you like high inflation, an out-of-control border and government ineptitude - keep the guy you have. If not, I would be honored to earn your vote and you have my commitment that I will be the fighter that the East Valley deserves!
