Dear Friend,

The labor movement and the climate justice movement worked together to pass the groundbreaking Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, the most aggressive climate law in the country.

Just climate action requires us all to work together, environmental justice communities and their workers, hand in hand. Corporations and the fossil fuel industry also have a responsibility to step up and meet the needs of our communities and planet by actively and intentionally investing in renewable energy.

On Wednesday, June 8 at 10 am, join a rally and press conference with unions and climate organizers that have the solutions to combat climate change and create hundreds of thousands of family-sustaining union jobs for New Yorkers.

New Yorkers shouldn’t be living from paycheck to paycheck while choking on air pollution. They shouldn’t suffer from sweltering heat at home while their bosses cut benefits and rights. They shouldn’t have to walk to work in streets filled with trucks that kill pedestrians and pollute our air.

Labor unions who represent these New Yorkers are calling on our state leaders to take on the interlocking and intergenerational destruction of our Black and brown frontline communities. Will you join them?

New York can lead the nation in paving the way for a just transition for workers, unions, and communities dependent on fossil-fuel industries. We can’t leave any workers behind while tackling the climate crisis. Join us in calling for a transition that safeguards the well-being of workers, our communities, and our environment.

In solidarity,

Maritza Silva-Farrell
