A Path to Self-Sufficiency: Advancing Venezuelan Refugee Integration in the Americas [[link removed]]
Tuesday, June 7 // 4:30–7:00 p.m. (ET)
The Refugee and Forced Displacement Initiative (RAFDI) and Latin American Program (LAP) of the Wilson Center, in partnership with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and Migration Policy Institute (MPI), will hold a public event on the margins of the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles.
This event will focus on the critical need for successful integration of Venezuelans in Colombia, Ecuador, and the rest of the region. The discussion will address some of the ongoing implementation challenges, barriers that limit integration, and the critical roles that the public and private sectors can play in delivering solutions and ensuring the success of these bold government initiatives. Speakers will emphasize opportunities and challenges for refugee employment and entrepreneurship, both vital paths to economic self-sufficiency.

This roundtable will discuss the latest findings on women's economic participation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region with a focus on the cases of Bahrain, Lebanon, and Tunisia. This convening of experts and senior leaders will discuss ways to strengthen the collective defense of democracy in the Americas. This regional democracy dialogue, taking place on the margins of the Summit of the Americas, is designed to generate and advance realistic policy recommendations to improve the charter’s application by OAS member states and adopt other measures to strengthen democratic governance in the region.

The Wilson Center invites you to take a critical look at the use of AI in public service, examining the societal implications across sectors: environmental sustainability, finance, and health.
