John,
You already know this: our elections are under attack.
From a lack of adequate federal funding for elections, to the dangers of an outdated Electoral Count Act (ECA), to an influx of threats and harassment against election officials, there is no question that free and fair elections are at risk in our country.
That is why Issue One is not standing idly by. We are fighting for our democracy, and we need your help.
Will you write to your representatives and tell them to support our elections and protect those who run them?
There have been bipartisan talks on Capitol Hill for key election reforms, but there is a chance that they will stall.
The events of January 6, 2021 demonstrated the urgent need to update the ECA to prevent future power grabs by rogue partisan agitators. Additionally, a recent poll found that 1 in 6 election officials have experienced threats because of their job1 — that is alarming and appalling. And without regular, predictable funding for election infrastructure, many state and local jurisdictions may not be able to hire enough poll workers or purchase updated voting equipment.
Send a letter to your representatives today!
Our window of opportunity is now. We need Congress to legislate on these critical issues now — and before the next election cycle which will make such action more difficult. Congress needs to hear that the American people stand behind reforms to strengthen our elections. Add your voice.
Thanks for standing with us,
Dokhi Fassihian Deputy Chief of Strategy and Program, Issue One
