Greg Abbott was counting dollars while they were counting bodies.
John,
Following the tragedy in Uvalde, Beto took a break from campaigning to be on the ground with this community, and we halted our fundraising efforts including emails like this one asking for grassroots donations. It was the right thing to do as we focused on supporting those in Uvalde and people across Texas.
Then, Beto joined a rally against gun violence in Houston — right across the street from the NRA convention where Donald Trump spoke. Thousands of Texans came together to hold the NRA and the politicians they purchase accountable.
Beto will continue to support those in Uvalde and everyone throughout Texas who has been impacted by gun violence. But the reality is that if we want to take action to stop this from happening again, we have to win political power so that we can protect the lives of those in our lives. To do so, we need to kick our fundraising back into high gear so that Beto can defeat Greg Abbott in November.
Beto cares about the people of Texas and being there for them in times of need.
Meanwhile, Greg Abbott attended a high-dollar fundraiser just hours after the Robb Elementary School massacre occurred. He was counting dollars while they were counting bodies.
Texans deserve so much better. But it’s on all of us to make that possible. Beto is building the biggest organizing program that Texas has ever seen in order to reach millions of voters, and we need the resources to compete with the $50 million that Greg Abbott has in the bank.
