I am so proud of the support that this campaign has attracted from civil rights groups and activists, environmental groups and activists, progressive/lefty groups, Indigenous leaders, and former and current elected officials. Thank you to everyone that has supported this campaign. Tomorrow is OUR DAY. Let's go!
I urge you to do as my friends at Napa Vision 2050 ask and contact these elected officials and tell them "Hands off Skyline Park!"
"Red Flag Warning: Save Skyline Wilderness Park from Development"
... "Under no circumstance should Skyline Park be considered as a site for development. Not a large piece. Not a small sliver. Never should that be considered. It is irreplaceable. It is already being used at its highest potential as a community and open space asset. Encroachment into Skyline Wilderness Park sets a very bad precedent that shared parklands are open to development, and additional slices of Skyline Park would become more likely." ... May 29th marked Jerusalem Day in Israel- a day where thousands of racist Israelis march through Palestinian territories, protected by the Israeli Occupation Forces, waving Israeli flags while chanting "death to Arabs", singing genocidal songs and assaulting Palestinians in celebration of Israel's illegal annexation of Palestinian territories. According to the LA Times article, Occupation forces called up thousands of police and forcibly cleared out Palestinians from the heart of the Muslim Quarter of the Old City. Palestinians in Israel would never be allowed to do such a thing, but Zionists would have you believe there is equality in Israel. This is not true. Not by a long shot. Zionists will have you believe that these are a small minority of extremists, but there are multiple far right political parties in Israel, and they have been ruling the country for decades and supporting these marches.
This is hysterical, but at the same time sad that many people will actually fall for this. Azov Battalion, one of the Nazi militias in Ukraine, has rebranded, doing away with the wolfsangel, which is indisputably a Nazi symbol superimposed over a sonnenrad, another Nazi symbol, on their patches. The Times of London reports that the problem isn't that they are Nazis, with Nazi tattoos and patches, but that Russia has exploited the patches to make Azov look like they are Nazis. Really, Times of London? According to this propaganda from the Times, the men with Nazi patches and various Nazis tattoos including swastikas, sonnenrads and 14/88 (which is a reference to a White supremacist leader and Hitler) aren't really Nazis at all, they are "far-right volunteers harboring anti-Muslim, anti-Jewish views" and just so happen to hold people like Bandera and Biletsky up as heroes.
I spent Memorial Day in the hospital with my parents. My Dad had fallen again and hurt himself. There were some concerns about his kidneys and some other stuff. My Dad is a veteran. He needs to be in a skilled nursing facility or at least have round-the-clock care, but the government isn't paying for any of it. The United States doesn't care about its veterans, or any of the people they supposedly try to save from "evil dictators". Congress can't even agree to pass burn pit legislation that would stop our troops from breathing in noxious chemicals.
Every year, at the end of May, we take a day to remember fallen soldiers, but the truth is that the government doesn't give a damn. It cuts corners to avoid giving veterans the care that they deserve and have earned, but it doesn't cost a damn thing to create a holiday. It has become a mantra for me to repeat every Memorial Day: If we care about our troops, let's take better care of our veterans and let's stop creating more wars.
Happy Pride month! When people feel understood and validated, they thrive. All of us should have an opportunity to thrive, no matter what. Pride month is so important to more people than you probably realize. I learned from some of the wonderful people you see pictured here that around 50% of gay teenagers consider suicide. Pride month or pride flags may seem performative to some, but to a lot of people it is not only a validation, but an opportunity to validate young people who may feel alone and isolated, and an opportunity to normalize a community that, as I said, is probably a lot larger than you realize. Some of the finest people I know are gay, bisexual or transgender, including several of the people you see pictured here, and they deserve the acknowledgement that Pride month offers.
Here is a fascinating story about auto and rubber companies buying out electric rail car systems to force their replacement by autos and buses, shared with me by my friend Zoya.
This is not right! Eleven days ago, the Supreme Court, in a decision authored by Clarence Thomas, said that "innocence is not enough" to overturn a conviction for rape and murder, and that the state of Arizona must execute an innocent man. This is truly unbelievable.
Here is Joe Biden last November acknowledging the price gouging of oil companies, which today he is erasing for political reasons. Putin didn't hike prices. Oil companies did. Their profits are way up. We are being price gouged and Joe Biden is running cover for them. This is a direct attempt to overturn climate action and create new drilling, which is unnecessary since we are the #1 oil exporter in the world.
Joe Biden, who promised us a public option is privatizing Medicare and jacking up the premiums. I wonder if Mike Thompson will oppose Joe Biden on this. I haven't heard any opposition yet.
In Sonoma County, please vote for Carl Tennenbaum for Sheriff and Blake Hooper for District 2 Supervisor. Both great choices!
If everyone demanded an end to corporate rule instead of a new iphone, then there would be an end to corporate rule.
The corporate rulers can't just keep raising the costs of rent, food and fuel, build up inflation, and then scold us to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps. This is class warfare and we're losing. We need a universal basic income now, to help keep people alive.
So Mike Thompson asked for people to submit pictures wearing orange for gun violence awareness day. He said he was going to share them, but he never did. Here's mine, which I did to raise awareness of how he seems to be just fine sending guns to Nazis in Ukraine. I'm sad he never displayed them.
Don't you know? When the US does it, it's an intervention. When countries we don't like do it, it's an invasion, a war. Joe Biden didn't invade Somalia, he's intervening. It's not an invasion unless Putin does it.

This is former Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul admitting that diplomats have been lying to Ukraine about NATO membership since 2021, lie all the time and that's the real world. So why would anyone believe anything US diplomats say?
