Dear Friend,

In case you missed it, billionaire and former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg featured NYCC in a recent campaign ad, to which we responded: take this down. He can buy media coverage, but he can't buy us.

The ad tries to claim that the planet is his priority, and that he will win the battle against climate change. But no one person can take that battle on, especially not a billionaire. Only a people-powered movement can.

Because we take on the big battles on climate change, and win. NYCC members drove forward the campaign to:
  • pass NYC’s historic new “Green New Deal” law, which requires large buildings - the city’s top source of climate pollution - to clean up;
  • push the City to divest its massive pension fund from fossil fuel, which will cost the likes of Exxon over $4 billion;
  • stop the proposed Williams fracked gas pipeline, a big polluting project similar to Dakota Access.
Unlike Mike Bloomberg, we rely on effective coalition building and grassroots organizing to run aggressive campaigns that deliver change at the scale of crisis. Since we don’t have Bloomberg’s net worth of nearly $58 billion, we need your support to continue our work.

Thanks for fighting with us.

In solidarity,

Jonathan Westin
