In Ukraine, there is a war that can only be summed up as democracy being attacked by authoritarianism. Even everyday citizens haven taken up arms and are defending their democracy, tooth-and-nail.

Here at home, there’s been a much colder type of war between democracy and authoritarianism. We are lucky that January 6th ended with as little bloodshed as it did.

I’m running against Chuck Grassley because, for 36 years in the U.S. Navy, I fought for our democracy abroad, and I’ll fight for it every day here in the United States Senate.

Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump are already raising money into Super PACs and campaigning against me here in Iowa. There’s one reason: The early polls show a close race, and Senate control is on the line. They know I’m the one who can defeat Chuck Grassley and turn Iowa blue.
