John, This week, Congress will hold investigatory hearings on the role elected officials — like Trump, Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene — played in plotting the January 6th attack on the Capitol. But the truth is this — while Congress has the power to investigate and expose, it has no power to prosecute and punish. That’s why Our Revolution and our partners at Free Speech for People have been organizing for months to demand state election officials enforce the Constitution and bar criminal insurrectionists from the ballot. The responsibility to enforce the Constitution in this matter is entrusted to Secretaries of State — join us and sign our petition to tell them to do their jobs and stop insurrectionists from serving in the US Government! We don’t want to discount the significance of this week’s hearings. Importantly, the Congressional hearings will remind Americans of established facts — Donald Trump and other elected officials plotted a violent rebellion to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power. But under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, it is state election officials who are obligated to act on the evidence and disqualify from re-election any office holder who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and then “engage[s] in insurrection or rebellion against the [United States], or gives aid or comfort to [our] enemies.” On behalf of our 1 million supporters nationwide, Our Revolution is demanding all Secretaries of State use this Constitutional provision to ban insurrectionists from the ballot just as they routinely exercise their authority to ban candidates who do not meet age or residency requirements. Add your name to our petition and tell them to do their jobs and block criminal insurrectionists from serving in government! The evidence is clear — Donald Trump and others conspired to violate the Constitution. There must be concrete consequences for these oathbreakers, and it is up to us to defend our country from the radical right before it's too late. In solidarity, Our Revolution
