John — There’s never a shortage of inflated statements on the campaign trail. But the claims Trump’s former Interior Secretary, Ryan Zinke, is making in his bid for Montana’s First Congressional District are simply outrageous.
Zinke claims that under his leadership, the United States “achieved energy dominance.” He’s also telling voters that while in the Interior Department, he increased federal energy revenues and “responsibly” opened federal acreage for energy production.
We remember the kind of leadership (or lack thereof) Ryan Zinke provided during his tenure. Not to mention his disgraceful exit from the Interior Department in 2018 while facing several federal department probes. Probes that concluded with evidence that Zinke violated his ethics obligations.
Zinke attempted to help Halliburton and other developers with creating a commercial development right next to a lot Zinke’s family nonprofit foundation controlled. His continued involvement was revealed in multiple texts and emails. He went so far as to host meetings with Halliburton’s then-executive in his Interior Department office — while Halliburton’s activities on federal lands were under investigation.
It’s obvious that Ryan Zinke is using smoke and mirrors in his campaign rhetoric to hide his shady dealings. And we know he’ll continue to sell out Montanans if he ever steps foot into Washington again.
We can’t let that happen. Instead, we need to raise money to elect environmental champions and oppose Zinke and candidates like him. Will you rush a donation today? [[link removed]]
