Hello Friends,
On June 2, 2022, the Richmond-Times Dispatch reported that Envigo, the Cumberland County breeder that a federal judge lambasted for its “torturous abuse” of dogs and puppies, has relinquished 446 beagles that authorities seized last month after finding them in “acute distress.” See article below:

This is in addition to the 145 dogs previously seized on May 19, as reported by WRIC ABC 8 News when Chris Kavanaugh, the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Virginia, filed a federal enforcement action against Envigo - asking the judge to halt the breeder’s violations of federal animal welfare laws and regulations.
One of many thousands of suffering victims of Envigo's animal cruelty
Shockingly, the United States Department of Agriculture shows that this facility passed its inspections in 2017, 2018 & 2019. Another example of the USDA's many failures to protect the animals it is supposed to be looking out for.
Legislators were prompted to pursue legislation for the beagles after SHARK's drone video footage of Envigo went viral. On March 8 2022, the Virginia Mercury reported legislators passed give bill to help the beagles at Envigo:

Overcrowded cages of frantic, innocent dogs destined to be tortured and killed
SHARK's years of drone work is finally getting these poor dogs some long overdue help, but there are still thousands more beagles,
primates, pigs, rabbits and guinea pigs other animals remaining at Envigo - which needs to be permanently shut down.
There are well-established procedures to test new drugs and products that don't require torturing and killing animals. These procedures are more accurate and safer for humans. Continuing to use animals for experimentation endangers the lives of humans.
Please reach out to your legislators and request that nonanimal testing procedures replace the cruel and archaic animal testing procedures for the health and wellbeing of both humans and animals. Look up your elected officials here.
Our many trips to document this cruelty, as well as all of the other animal cruelty SHARK documents nationwide, are expensive. Your donations go to our investigations, not exorbitant executive salaries - SHARK doesn't have any executives and our President/Founder is a volunteer and SHARK donor.
SHARK can't continue without your support. Please donate here.
