FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW
*
June
is
celebrated
as
National
Immigrant
Heritage
Month.
As
the
United
States
celebrates
and
honors
the
impact
immigrants
have
on
our
nation
during
this
month,
it
remains
crucial
for
the
public
to
understand
that—as
workers,
business
owners,
taxpayers,
and
neighbors—immigrants
are
an
integral
part
of
the
country’s
diverse
and
thriving
communities
and
make
extensive
contributions
that
benefit
all.

ACROSS THE NATION
*
The
American
Immigration
Council
and
the
American
Immigration
Lawyers’
Association
in
a
joint
comment
urged
the
Biden
administration
to
reconsider
the
timeframes
that
would
severely
impact
the
ability
of
asylum
seekers
to
obtain
legal
representation
in
a
new
asylum
process
for
individuals
who
arrive
at
the
border
and
who
are
put
through
the
expedited
removal
process
and
provided
credible
fear
interviews.

The
process,
initiated
on
May
31,
would
make
it
significantly
more
difficult
to
obtain
counsel
in
a
short
period
of
time.
The
comments
submitted
by
the
organizations
asked
the
administration
to
ensure
that
no
person
is
forced
to
go
through
this
process
without
the
benefit
of
counsel.
