Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

This week, I remained in our great state of Arizona and visited some exciting facilities in our state.

Copper plays a key role in our country’s economic and national security, and I had a great time touring Freeport-McMoRan’s Miami Operations to see how they make copper rods. Arizona is proud to be home to this wonderful facility!

Arizona is also home to Freeport-McMoRan's copper smelter, which is one of the largest copper smelters in the world and one of only two in the entire United States! I had the pleasure of touring this facility to learn more about their operations and all they do to help unleash our domestic resource production.

I had a wonderful time speaking with constituents at a presentation hosted by True the Vote at the Arizona State Senate to discuss the importance of election integrity.

Arizona is proud to be home to PING, a family-owned company that specializes in golf equipment! I had a wonderful time touring PING’s manufacturing facility with PING’s Vice President and Corporate Counsel Dawn Grove.

I also had the pleasure of touring PING’s Gold Putter Vault, which features winning putters from various golf championships.

Lesko Joins Effort to Abolish the Anti-Israel Commission of Inquiry

Image

I signed on to Congressman Greg Steube’s (R-FL-17) Commission of Inquiry Elimination Act to prevent taxpayer dollars from funding the United Nations’ anti-Israel Commission of Inquiry and block taxpayer dollars from funding the Commission. The United States must continue to stand with our ally, Israel.

Lesko Joins Resolution to Condemn the Undermining of Our Judicial System

Image

I’m a cosponsor of Congressman Mike Johnson’s (R-LA-04) resolution to condemn the unprecedented leak of the United States Supreme Court’s draft decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, protect the Justices’ homes, and condemn the intimidation tactics used by pro-abortion activists.

GET THE FACTS: Arizona’s Gas Prices Go Through the Roof

Under one-party Democrat rule, our nation’s economy has been declining steadily. Our nation’s Gross Domestic Product shrank by 1.5% in the first-quarter of 2022. Americans are struggling to afford basic necessities due to record-high inflation. Gas prices continue to shatter records, forcing some Americans to make difficult decisions about filling up their gas tanks. The rate at which people are getting hired is decelerating. In fact, job creation reached its slowest pace of the pandemic-era recovery in May. Now, a recent Gallup poll has indicated that Americans’ confidence in the economy has dropped to its lowest point in over a decade! This is completely unacceptable and a complete policy failure on the part of President Biden and Congressional Democrats.

Around the District

Michael from our office attended Anthem, Arizona’s Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony to honor our nation’s veterans and fallen soldiers. We will never forget those who gave their lives for our nation.

Casework Highlight

We had a constituent contact our office who was locked out of their account on the Treasury Direct website. We contacted the administrator for Treasury Direct, who was able to rectify the issue. The constituent was subsequently able to access their account and make bond purchases again.

Encouraging Story

I am pleased to share this story about The Joy Bus, a non-profit restaurant that donates their proceeds to cancer patients. They also deliver meals to those who are unable to leave their homes. Since they receive their produce and coffee through donations, this restaurant continuously changes up their menu with exciting new options! It is so moving to see people in our community step up to help those who are battling this vicious disease.
