John,
I’m up for re-election this November and hoping I can count on your support to defend this Senate seat and keep Illinois blue. But first, I was hoping to take a minute to explain why this election is so important.
When I was in high school, the company my dad worked for was sold. My dad lost his job and we struggled to get by. My brother and I relied on reduced-price meals at school. Our family used food stamps to put dinner on the table.
That assistance made the difference for our family during a tough time. We got through it because leaders who cared about working families made sure we got the help we needed.
Right now, so many families like mine are struggling. Prices are high and wages aren’t keeping up. People are counting on the Senate to help with things like affordable housing and child care, job creation and investments in key areas like public transit and infrastructure.
I’ve been working with Senator Durbin to deliver for Illinoisans. But we know there’s more work to be done–and we’re certainly not backing down now.
Thank you for your support,
Tammy Duckworth
