John,In order to reach the Biden administration’s goals of cutting carbon emissions in half by 2030, we need to rapidly ramp up the volume of sustainable energy production. But right now, there’s a major snag holding up progress with deploying solar panels nationwide.
Earlier this year, the Commerce Department launched an investigation into solar panel tariffs which has turned the solar industry on its head. Now, 83% of US-based solar installers have reported canceled or delayed supplies for solar panels.
Without any intervention, the Commerce Department’s probe will continue to slow down solar projects until at least the start of next year with potential ripple effects for years beyond.
That’s why SEEC members and other members of Congress signed a letter to President Biden urging that the Commerce Department wrap up its investigation as quickly as possible to prevent long-term damage to the solar industry.
