Hi,
Just a few days after the mass shooting at a school in Texas, the US
Senate...went on vacation.
The Senate went on recess in late May. When they return, Democrats will
try and persuade Republicans to vote for gun control legislation that is
widely popular with the American people. They will fail to get more than
one or two Republican votes, at best, well short of the 60 votes needed to
overcome Mitch McConnell's filibuster.^1
It's obvious that Senate Democrats must end the filibuster if they are
going to actually do something to stop mass shootings. But Senators won't
act unless we speak up. Will you add your name in this urgent moment?

After the Sandy Hook massacre, Congress in 2013 took up gun background
checks with bipartisan support. The bill died on the Senate floor despite
majority support, because it failed to override a filibuster.
The filibuster does not "encourage consensus," or else something with
near-universal support like gun background checks would have passed years
ago. Instead, it's the final refuge of obstructionists who seek to block
any and all sensible reform.
How many more mass shootings will happen until we abolish the filibuster?
