Friend,
Healthcare is a human right, and no one should go bankrupt or die because they can’t afford it.
This pandemic has compounded racial and class disparities that already existed in our country’s healthcare system. And we now know that more than a third of all COVID deaths are linked to a lack of health insurance.
Medicare for All is the urgent, necessary program we need to fix our broken healthcare system and finally prioritize people over profits, guaranteeing quality healthcare as a human right.
Around 70% of voters support Medicare for All legislation, which would expand Medicare to include everyone and to cover mental health, dental care, vision, and hearing aids—with no out-of-pocket expenses, insurance premiums, deductibles, or co-payments. This will save lives.
Please add your name: Tell the Senate to pass Bernie Sanders’ new Medicare for All bill and ensure that every person is guaranteed quality healthcare—regardless of their ability to pay.
I am proud to be an original co-sponsor of the companion bill in the House, HR 1976, which has the support of 121 of my House colleagues.
Nearly 70,000 people die each year because they can’t afford healthcare. Research also shows that most bankruptcies are due to extreme medical debt, which is an issue I’ve taken on.
Meanwhile, health insurance CEOs are raking in billions of dollars.
Thank you for joining me in calling for change. Only by coming together can we guarantee healthcare as a human right.
Always serving you,
Rashida
