BILL SIGNING TOUR - DAY 19

I signed bills into law yesterday to help prepare for and respond to wildfires, protect Colorado’s environment, support Colorado’s workforce and continue to grow Colorado’s thriving economy.

Whether it’s providing tax credits to early childhood educators, helping communities prepare for and respond to wildfires and improve recycling, we are committed to saving people money and continuing to build a Colorado for all where everyone can thrive.

REDUCING COSTS & IMPROVING COLORADO’S RECYCLING

I started the day at the Evergreen Nature Center under clear skies and was accompanied by First Gentleman Marlon Reis to sign bills that protect Colorado’s environment. I signed bipartisan bills into law including HB22-1159 Waste Diversion and Circular Economy Development Center, HB22-1355 Producer Responsibility Program For Recycling, and HB22-1345 Perfluoroalkyl And Polyfluoroalkyl Chemicals. Colorado is committed to using common-sense solutions and cutting edge technology to increase and improve recycling in our state. These new laws are an important step, and bipartisan HB22-1355 will remove the costs of recycling from localities and taxpayers, and save Coloradans money.

SAVING COLORADANS MONEY ON CHILDCARE

Next, I signed new bipartisan laws to provide tax relief for early childhood educators and programs at a child care center in Lakewood. Since taking office, my administration has implemented free, full-day kindergarten, and in partnership with the legislature, launched universal preschool which will go into effect in the Fall of 2023. To support these efforts, I signed SB22-213 Child Care Support Programs, HB22-1369 Children's Mental Health Programs, and HB22-1010 Early Childhood Educator Income Tax Credit. These new laws will allow Colorado’s economy to grow even faster by giving more hardworking families the opportunity to have quality child care.
