Last week, the Computer & Communications Industry Association, a corporate Big Tech lobbying group, dropped $22 million on ads to oppose modest antitrust legislation aimed at Big Tech. [1]
$22. Million. Dollars.
$22 million dollars to convince the public that these bills would “break Prime'' and “break your phone.” But that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The American Innovation and Choice Online Act (AICOA or S2992) aims to prohibit Big Tech from using their market power to strike down competition and abuse small business’ data to favor their own products and services. By keeping Big Tech in check, the bill puts power back in our hands with more freedom of choice over what products and services we use and trust. [2]

Their misinformation campaign only shows that they’re scared as hell of facing thoughtful, bipartisan legislation that forces them to compete and stop their appalling self-dealing. [3]
We. Can. Win. This.
Both Congress and everyday people are more tech savvy and aware of Big Tech lies than ever. According to recent polling, a large majority of respondents (79%) said Big Tech companies have too much power and influence and 75% say those companies abuse their power. [4]
With the right strategy and resources, this is a fight we can win. We already helped build a “rest of the Internet” coalition of over 100 organizations and businesses that drove 3,100 calls and 66,000 emails to Congress in April during an antitrust day of action. [5] The bills already have strong bipartisan support, but we must push to get them over the finish line. Your continued support helps us do outreach, build campaigns for the public to reach Congress members, place billboards, and call out members who say they want to rein in Big Tech but aren’t willing to stand up to them when it really matters.

How You Can Help
All of this—calls, building campaign pages, billboards—costs money. We are a small and scrappy team. Even so, we need support to make sure we can react to the latest Big Tech lobbying BS at the drop of a hat. Time is of the essence. We know we can’t match $22 million dollars in ad money. But if there’s one thing we know we can do, it’s fight. We’ve taken on the biggest names in the game before—and won. [5] If you believe in this fight, and you are in a position to help, will you chip in $22 to sustain our work?
Thank you for fighting alongside us,
The Fight Team
