Bowman for Congress

John,

Republicans, conservative Democrats, and the political establishment are doing everything in their power to unseat Jamaal Bowman — and if you want proof, look no further than this year's nightmarish redistricting process.

Now more than ever, we need your support to protect Jamaal and prepare for the fights ahead. Both Jamaal and I would be so grateful for anything you can chip in today to help strengthen this campaign.

John, let's get into it:

When Republicans thought they didn’t have a chance in the newly-drawn New York Congressional districts, they sued, claiming that the maps were too advantageous to Democrats. Most political observers thought the case was dead on arrival.

But Republicans chose for their lawsuit to be heard in a rural and deeply conservative area of New York — and the Judge, a former vice-chairman of a local Republican Party, declared the original maps could not stand. On appeal, another Republican Judge affirmed the lower court's decision, ordering that brand-new maps be redrawn by a postdoctoral fellow and registered independent voter.

John, when these maps were released, all hell broke loose — and the Democratic establishment saw yet another opportunity to try and unseat Jamaal and crush our progressive movement.

First, Sean Patrick Maloney — the powerful head of the DCCC — announced he was selfishly switching districts from the one he already represents to go after our neighboring district. His plan was to push Congressman Mondaire Jones to run against Jamaal, pitting two young, Black, progressive Congressmen who've fought hard for their communities to run against each other.

The Democratic establishment could not have been happier with this plan to get rid of Jamaal. According to the Intelligencer, Jones was prodded to run against Jamaal by senior House Democrats and forces aligned with Eliot Engel — the longtime incumbent Bowman defeated in 2020.

In the end, Jones decided to run in another district — but we are far from out of the woods. The establishment almost created a war within our movement, and it's clear they will stop at nothing to unseat Jamaal and ensure our progressive vision for the future is never realized.

We have to be ready for anything. To prepare for the fights ahead and ensure we have the strength to fight and win this election, we're going to need your help.

John, will you make a contribution of any amount right now to help us keep Jamaal in Congress where he belongs? Our work in the district shows that the people are with us, but we need your support to ensure we can fight off any potential attacks in the future.

Thank you for helping us keep going until we win on election day. I'm grateful.

In solidarity,
